Service Description

This class welcomes any practitioner of any level, from beginners to experienced practitioners and teachers. You will be progressively instructed in a set sequence of movements that will remain the same from class to class, thereby developing your confidence to guide yourself through practice. Your breath is the foundation AND the metronome for your practice. In order to listen to your breathing, background music is not used for this class. It’s suited to anyone who considers themselves a seeker and wants to engage with a methodology that facilitates a truly personalized journey, carried out and supported by the strength of a community. This practice will explore your edges, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is therefore a potent vehicle for self-discovery and self-actualization. What is involved? - Chanting in Sanskrit language, the meaning of the words in English will be available. - Physical Postures, known as Asanas - 2 Simple Breathing Techniques, known as Pranayama - You will develop an embodied understanding of yoga ethics - Be willing to discover and embrace your intrinsic leadership qualities - Be willing to explore self-practice outside of class Who is the teacher? Clare was first introduced to the Ashtanga method while working as a tour leader in Central America. While the practice initially complimented her interest in trail running, during an extended period of injury she immersed herself further. The internal sense of alignment and empowerment she felt fuelled the discipline required to continue fitting practice into her busy work-life circumstances. Changing countries and careers lead to a great diversification in her teaching repertoire. She became an entrepreneur in 2021, and yet after spending the last 4 years teaching a variety of movement modalities, Ashtanga remains home. Clare wants students to know that she is not certified by the current lineage holder of the Ashtanga tradition, Sri K Patthabi Jois, but she has been using the Ashtanga method for self-improvement since 2015. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement Studies (Kinesiology) and she is registered as an RYT200 with Yoga Alliance with her foundational training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 2019 with 830 hours of teaching experience as at June 30, 2024. She has trained 50hr in Rocket Vinyasa Yoga, 50hr in Yin Yoga, 30hr in Prenatal Yoga and Exhale Barre Module 1.
